Stacey Dash is running for Congress in California

Stacey Dash, the “Clueless” actress turned Fox News commentator, has filed paperwork to run for U.S. Congress.

Dash filed documents with the Federal Election Commission on Monday, declaring her candidacy to represent the 44th district of California in the House of Representatives. The documents, available on the FEC website, also declare the creation of a new committee under the name “Dash to D.C.”

The southern California district, which spans a portion of Los Angeles County from South Gate down through Compton and north Long Beach, is currently represented by Democrat Nanette Barragán.

Dash has been teasing a transition into politics on her Twitter account for a few weeks. On Feb. 9 she called on her followers to weigh in” “A number of people online and off have suggested I run for political office. I wanted to see what my online community thinks of this idea as I mull the possibilities. Thoughts?”

An outspoken conservative and Trump supporter, Dash served as a Fox News commentator beginning in 2014. She repeatedly made headlines with controversial opinions about topics ranging from the BET Awards to transgender rights.

She was briefly suspended from the network in 2015 after cursing on-air, saying that Barack Obama “doesn’t give a s—” about terrorism.
